What Makes Whitaker Wellness Unique

When it comes to experience and innovation, no clinic surpasses Whitaker Wellness in Newport Beach, California. IV vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients have been a primary therapy at Whitaker Wellness for more than 35 years.

Julian Whitaker, MD, founder of Whitaker Wellness in Newport Beach, is a nationally renowned pioneer in integrative medicine and author of 14 books as well as the popular monthly newsletter Health & Healing. Over the past 35 years, Dr. Whitaker has not only developed IV therapy protocols for dozens of health challenges—but has also demonstrated their effectiveness by treating thousands of satisfied patients.

With five physicians (MDs and DOs); a dedicated staff of nurses, technicians, acupuncturists, massage therapists, reflexologists, and other health care professionals; and more therapies under one roof than any other facility of its kind, Whitaker Wellness is the most comprehensive alternative medicine clinic in the United States.

In addition to IV Therapies, Whitaker Wellness also offers a broad range of diagnostics and treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), enhanced external counter pulsation (EECP), acupuncture, high-intensity laser, platelet rich plasma (PRP), prolotherapy, stem cell therapy, infrared light therapy, reflexology, neurofeedback, sleep apnea screening and treatment, frequency specific microcurrent therapy, personalized supplement regimens, nutritional consultations, and exercise instruction. Since 1970, Whitaker Wellness’s Back to Health Program, which involves one, two, or three weeks of medical evaluation, targeted treatments, education, and instruction in lifestyle changes, has attracted more than 50,000 patients from all over North America.

Why You Need IV Therapy

Do want to boost your energy or mood? Enhance your immune system and get over or stave off a cold or other infection? Speed your recovery from jetlag, intense workouts, a stressful week, or a wild weekend? Or simply rehydrate and detox—quickly and safely? Intravenous (IV) therapy is your ticket to better health. Tens of thousands of scientific studies confirm the positive effects of antioxidants, electrolytes, and other vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and nutrients for health maintenance and disease prevention and treatment. Nutritional supplements are a powerful way to reap these benefits, but because they must first pass through the gastrointestinal tract, they have potential limitations, including poor absorption, loss of potency, and digestive upset. IV therapy sidesteps all these roadblocks. Nutrients are infused directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract, allowing for higher doses, and resulting in a more potent therapeutic punch—with no stomach upset. It also restores optimal hydration, which has profound benefits of its own. That’s why IV therapy produces rapid and dramatic results for a wide range of health concerns.

A Typical IV Therapy

The IV department at Whitaker Wellness is nothing like a hospital where IVs are typically given. Rather, it is a large, pleasant room, full of comfortable recliners and friendly, relaxed patients and staff.

After a brief consultation to discuss your medical history and specific needs, our registered nurse will prepare your IV. It will contain sterile water and electrolytes for rehydration plus your customized nutrient prescription. Your RN will insert a needle into a vein, usually in the arm or back of the hand, and start your IV.

If you’ve never had an IV before, you might expect this to be painful and scary. Sure, you may feel the needle going in, but our nurses have years of experience, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the ease of the procedure.

You’ll then be escorted to a chair, where you’ll sit, read, text, listen to music or watch a program on your phone or tablet, nap, or simply relax. Most treatments last less than an hour, although they may be as short as 45 minutes or as long as a couple of hours, depending on the specific protocol.

Your nurse will then “unhook” you, and you’ll be on your way — to better health!
